Stitching Together Work & Friendship | Notes from Bangalore
Bangalore is home to Blank Studios, a production unit run by my dear friend and collaborator Shivangi. We first connected on Instagram and since then have grown into work partners who truly understand each other, and friends who laugh over lunch. She brings me home-cooked meals when I'm there and this time she even packed Indian snacks made by her grandmum for me to take back to NYC.
Shivangi just opened a beautiful new studio space with floor-to-ceiling glass windows, overlooking a lake. It's bright, calm and filled with twelve skilled tailors who bring so much heart to their work. I felt grateful to spend time in such a thoughtful and inspiring space.
Each day, I walked to work along the lakeside—with Bangalore's traffic, it's often the easiest option, but more than that, it's a peaceful way to start my day. I had my fair share of dosas, sipped strong filter coffee and wore fresh flowers in my hair because—why not?
I also made time to wander through Cubbon Park, under hundred-year-old trees, soaking in the stillness and history. Bangalore always feels alive to me—a city full of youth, passion, and possibilities.
One of the most special moments of the trip was getting to meet Shivangi's two-week-old daughter. Holding a tiny new life in the midst of all the energy was grounding in a completely different way.
These spaces are more than a place of production but where so much of our story takes shape.
