Heritage, Hue & Handcrafted | Jaipur, Rajasthan
Jaipur is the home of our hand block prints! I spent time with the talented sibling duo at Joshua Block Printing, who we've collaborated with for the past three collections!
There's a beautiful kind of chaos in Jaipur; bold color clashes from everyday street scenes across the faded pastels of old havelis and palaces. Layers of historic and modern life all blending together. That constant push and pull is something I carry into each collection. A reminder that contrast can be magical.
Like Jaipur, layers bring block prints to life.
Step 1: One block is hand-carve with each motif
Step 2: Prep the fabric
Step 3: Mixing the dyes for tone, texture and consistency
Step 4: Hand printing! This is the heart of it all. Using one block for each color in the design. Artisans stamp the fabric with precision and rhythm. A single print often takes three to four different blocks layered on top of each other.
Step 5: Drying and setting under the sun
Step 6: Once the color is set, the fabric is washed and dried again.
What always strikes me most is how much intention, patience and skill go into each step. The rhythm of block printing, the repetition, the slight imperfections—it's all part of the beauty.

More to come soon! I hope you enjoyed this little window into what inspires the pieces we create.
